About Me

I currently work as an RF/EM Research Scientist at HRL Laboratories, LLC. I graduated in June 2025 from UC San Diego with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, though by the end of my undergrad I was almost exclusively taking ECE coursework. I enjoy studying RF engineering, especially antenna design, as well as photonics, optics, machine learning, and electronic warfare.

I have mostly worked for startup companies, as I like to work in fast-paced environments with other highly-motivated people. These startups include Lumitron Technologies, which is developing laser-Compton light sources for medical and nuclear defense applications based on research done at LLNL, and Commonlands Optics, a mostly-M12/C-mount optics distributor for clients working on a wide variety of computer vision applications.

I started my undergrad as an economics major at Iowa State University in 2019. During the COVID pandemic, I completed my first engineering project with a friend at UC Irvine, and I was immediately hooked, soon changing my major and transferring to UC San Diego to pursue this interest further. UCSD does not allow double majoring in multiple engineering disciplines, so I chose to formally study mechanical engineering while taking 20-24 credits of engineering coursework per quarter - this was the only way I could take upper-division ECE courses which largely couldn't be applied to my degree. During my undergrad, I was inducted into Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), and I ultimately graduated from UCSD with Latin honors.
